Last weekend the sixth race of the Moto GP World Championship took place at the French Speedway – Le Mans Bugatti Circuit – which has been active since 1967. Amongst some of the manufacturers that currently participate in the 60th Edition of the Tournament are: Yamaha, Honda, Ducati, Suzuki, and Kawasaki.
Additionally, the top five riders who presently lead the scoreboard are: in first place Valentino Rossi from Italy with 97 points, the Spaniards Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo both with 94 points – second and third place respectively, Casey Stoner from Australia with 56 points and in fifth place the American Colin Edwards with a total of 47 points.
Last Sunday the Italian Valentino Rossi who rides for Yamaha accomplished a double win by becoming the French champion after his previous win in China; this triumph is his 90th win fact that moved him to the first position in the overall standings besides tying his record to that of the well-known Angel Nieto.
“To tie Nieto is like a dream,” said Rossi, who also won the Shanghai GP two weeks ago. “I didn’t expect to be so fast, but we made some modifications after the warm-up and the bike worked well. “I haven’t won two races in a row since 2006. That means we are back in business.”
Rossi’s latest win is certainly an incredible achievement as his counterpart the Australian champion Stoner was pursing the lead but unfortunately for Stoner he had to retire during the 20th lap as his machine had a mechanical malfunction. Situation which benefit Pedrosa who pushed his Honda but both Rossi and Lorenzo moved ahead as Rossi won the first place and the Spaniard who also rides for Yamaha came in second showing an amazing display of cleverness and speed skills.
Many believe this definitely means business for the Italian as this is the first time Rossi is at the top of the standings since his win at the Spanish speedway in Jerez back in 2007. Rossi who is a seven-time world champion recorded 44 minutes and 30.79 seconds. A very positive situation for the Yahama manufacturer as well as they lead now with a total of 115 points gathered from two second places in Qatar and Spain followed by three consecutive wins in Portugal, China and France. On the other hand, the Japanese manufacturer Honda counts with 94 points and the Italian Ducati in third place with 61 points.
The speed knights will meet once again next June 1st at the Italian Mugello Circuit for another round of the best Moto GP speed racing. This particular circuit has been Rossi’s domain since 2002 when he first won the race & has repeated it for the past six seasons. Rossi’s experience include three Wold Championships in 125cc – 1997, 250cc – 1999 and 500cc – 2001 and MotoGP – 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005.

You can see it on motogp.com on the riders info.
Pedrosa is the lightest with 51 kg
Gibernau the heaviest with 70 kg.
Most would rather it did one or the other, its when you have a drying track like in Le Mans this year, where the problems start.
Take a rider like Chris Vermulan or Marco Melandri. They dont have the fastest bikes out there but are both great in wet weather races as all the bikes have there power turned down to handle the conditions.
I think on a whole, most perfer it to be bone dry.
This : http://photos.indystar.com/photos/2008/9/13/148548/show.jpg is no fun for anyone !

don't know about the riders but as for age of riders retiring it is usually around 30 when an average rider either loses interest a bit or injury's catch them up or teams stop giving them the ride! the riders that last longer are the ones with smooth riding styles that avoid injury's and get on with there teams!
